For travelers who want a bit more comfort during a rooftop tent road trip, this upgrade is an ideal choice. You swap two nights in the rooftop tent for a lodge stay with a comfortable bed and a private bathroom.
The lodges are also located at convenient stops along the route. If you want to hit the road as early as possible towards Etosha National Park, you won’t need to pack up the tent in the morning and can leave right away. The same goes for Walvis Bay if you’ve booked an extra activity. You don’t have to pack up the tent before the start and can then continue straight towards Sesriem.
One small practical detail: breakfast is included in Sachsenheim, but not in Walvis Bay.

An accident can happen quickly, which is why we recommend adding a damage waiver to your booking. This coverage will cost you €37 per day and will insure the vehicle when a member of your team is driving. For Namibia (9 days), that totals €333. By selecting this coverage, you won’t have to pay a security deposit.
If you choose not to take coverage, you will need to pay a deposit of €1000 before your departure, and a deductible of up to €3000 may be required in case of damage.
Namibia Nomads has been designed for groups of 2 to 5 people.
If you are a group of 3 or more, we will provide an extra rooftop tent and camping material, as one rooftop tent can only accommodate 2 people.
Would you like to participate with more than 5 people? That’s possible, but you will have to organise into smaller groups. Each group has to register separately and will be allocated its own car. Do not hesitate to contact us in advance so we can check whether there are still enough available cars.
Yes, it is allowed to bring a drone to Namibia, but certain rules must be followed:
Where is it possible to fly a drone?
You can fly your drone in areas where it is not expressly prohibited.
In Etosha National Park, Sossusvlei, and the Moon Landscape region, flying a drone is strictly prohibited.
At Spitzkoppe, it may be allowed in certain areas, but be sure to check with the reception on-site first.
It is also forbidden to fly over wildlife, groups of people, cities, or other national parks.
Permit Application
To officially fly your drone in Namibia, you must apply for a drone permit from the Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) before your departure. You can find more concrete information on the application process on this website.
Tip: Use common sense, respect nature, other travelers, and local rules.
